| | | |  |     | | | | | Governor's Awards for Downtown Excellence The Governor's Awards for Downtown Excellence is an annual awards program that recognizes the progress being made in revitalizing Colorado's historic downtown and neighborhood business districts and the contributions these districts are making to Colorado's quality of life and economy. The awards are a great way to honor your community, contractors, designers, architects, engineers, non profits, and planners for the work they do in downtowns and neighborhood business districts. Anyone can nominate a project. Go below to download the nomination form and guidelines. This awards program provides well-deserved recognition for a job well done and generates significant publicity for revitalization projects. Award winners receive local and statewide print and television coverage and are featured in the Colorado Municipal League and Colorado Community Revitalization Association newsletters. 2008 Governor's Awards for Downtown Excellence Gala The Governor's Awards for Downtown Excellence will take place 7:00PM September 18th, 2008 in Steamboat Springs. The award ceremony will be moderated by Mark Leese, URS Corporation and Tony Hernandez of the Department of Local Affairs, Division of Local Government. Register Now! 2008 Governor's Awards for Downtown Excellence and Nomination Form 2007 Governor's Awards for Downtown Excellence Winners and Nominees Nominations Deadline Nominations were due to Colorado Community Revitalization Association, 240 South Broadway, Ste. 201, Denver, CO 80209, by July 31, 2008 at 5 p.m. Judging A jury of representatives from the sponsoring organizations and other professionals will review the awards nominations according to how the projects meet the criteria described under each of the seven award categories as well as the following criteria. - Impact: Achieves maximum impact on a downtown or neighborhood commercial district revitalization effort.
- Innovation: Offers an innovative or unique approach to a downtown or neighborhood business district development or management challenge.
- Complements Local Assets: Reinforces and capitalizes on the unique assets of the local community.
Replication: Projects that represent an idea, process or solution that may be replicated in other communities are - especially desirable.
- Use of Local Resources: Demonstrates efficient use of local resources, including people power, partnerships and funding.
| The jury reserves the right to eliminate categories if a reasonable number of worthy nominations have not been submitted in a given category.
